Mazda MX-5 Convertible Upholstery

I own a 1993 Mazda Miata in California. The soft top had become severely rusted, making it unsafe to drive with it installed. When I leave for college at the end of school breaks, I store the car under an outdoor cover to protect the paint. However, moisture can become trapped underneath for extended periods, leading to rust, particularly around the window.

Over winter break, I made it a goal to replace the soft top with a new one. I used the proper tools and followed detailed instructions to ensure it was installed correctly. It was crucial to complete the installation properly to prevent water intrusion and to ensure the top would remain secure during driving. Although, it was difficult to find a tutorial for the soft top I had ordered, I researched a series of tutorials to understand the parts and mechanisms that are included in the skeleton, from there I took note on what was removed to ensure every part is put back together. The most difficult part of this process was stretching the new soft top out one installed, as it was super tight at first. Then, I let it stretch out over several days.

Overall, I am very proud of putting this on with the help of others and understanding the first step of proper maintenance for convertible cars.
